Listening to you

Our proposed model of care has been developed with hundreds of women and their families, professionals, and a wide range of other people and organisations.

We have involved people from across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin. This has included hearing from individuals with various protected characteristics such as different ages, ethnicities, and religions to make sure their views and the impact on them have been considered.

What women told us was important to them included:

  • Support with early pregnancy
  • Knowing the midwife delivering their care (continuity of carer)
  • Getting good care after the birth (postnatal)
  • Being part of decisions about their care when things don’t go to plan
  • Getting to the place of birth on time
  • Building a network of mum friends

For more information about our engagement activity please read our engagement reports available on our key documents page.

We will continue our engagement up until the public consultation is launched and will be undertaking specific engagement activity throughout the duration of the consultation itself. During the consultation we will be asking for your views on the proposed model to help us make the best decision to transform midwifery care. We will widely promote all of the different ways you can get involved and share your views.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved so far. Together we have developed a proposed model of midwifery care that would deliver improvements for women and their families as well as for professionals working in and with maternity services.
