Essential requirements to apply for MSc Advanced Clinical Practice

  • 3-5 years working as a registered practitioner with 2 years working at senior level
  • Have a first level degree in a subject relevant to the professional background of your area of employment
  • Have insight and an understanding of advanced practice roles
  • Ability to plan own professional development and maintain a high level of clinical practice to meet the core capabilities and the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice
  • Employer support and an available trainee Advanced Practitioner job role with an ACP post agreed when qualified and appropriate clinical supervision structure

Advanced Practice ePortfolio (supported) Route (THIS MAY BE WORTH A SEPARATE TAB/BOX)

The ePortfolio (supported) Route has been specifically designed to enable recognition with the Centre for Advancing Practice of existing, experienced advanced practitioners, who at the time of the expression of interest, are working clinically in advanced practitioner roles on a regular basis, and who have already completed their advanced practice experiential and educational learning mostly before 2017 when HEE’s Multi-professional framework for advanced clinical practice in England was published.

To date, three cohorts of applicants have been recruited to the ePortfolio (supported) Route and the Centre has opened an Expressions of Interest (EOI) form

Continuing beyond Masters level…..

The Health Education England (HEE) / NIHR Integrated Clinical and Practitioner Academic (ICA) Programme provides research training awards for health and social care professionals, excluding doctors and dentists, who wish to develop careers that combine research and research leadership with continued practice and professional development. 

In addition, doctoral and post-doctoral award holders can access funded career mentorship through the ICA Programme’s bespoke Mentorship Scheme.

Professional Doctorates are awards conferring intellectual and professional distinction which recognise the achievements of senior practitioners in a range of disciplines.

The courses are an alternative to traditional PhD study, based on taught programmes with a research element, and are particularly suited to professionals who are seeking CPD.
