Physical Health Assessment

About the course

This university module is often studied as a precursor to the independent prescribing qualification where the skills learned can be further consolidated through completion of prescribing competences.

There are three intakes per annum; January, April and September. Duration around 12 weeks. A number of universities offer this course.

Course content

  • This module is validated by the NMC
  • It is a theoretical module that is delivered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. 
  • You will study each body system and the recommended method for assessing the system 
  • You will be supported to combine each system to a whole health assessment relevant to your area of practice 
  • As a theoretical module there are no compulsory practice based competences so it is expected that you will continue to practise, contextualise and consolidate the learning in your practice setting after completion of the module
  • The module is delivered through blended learning by live online delivery, asynchronous learning and a skills lab session 
  • The content is designed by a variety of lecturers with different specialities to ensure the module provides comprehensive learning
  • For each 2 hours of content provided it is expected that the student will undertake an additional 2 hours of self-directed study to achieve the outcomes of the course.

 

Entry requirements

Applicants must have current professional body registration i.e. NMC, HCPC or GPhC.
