NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin recently commissioned a significant piece of research from Primary Care Commissioning (PCC), a social enterprise providing practical support to health and social care, to help us gain crucial insight onto the recruitment and retention of GPs.

This work consisted of surveys of medical students, foundation year doctors, GP trainees and fully qualified GPs – we also surveyed GP Practices as employers of GPs.

We will use the results to ensure that NHSE funding is spent in the best way possible, to assist in recruitment, increase the numbers of GPs retained in our system, and provide General Practice in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin with a more sustainable future.
