About the course
This course reflects the National minimum standards and core curriculum for immunisation training for Healthcare Support Workers (Public Health England, 2015) and the National Minimum Standards and Core Curriculum for Registered Healthcare Practitioners (Public Health England, Revised February 2018). Health Care Assistants and Registered Health Practitioners attending this course must have previously successfully completed a two-day Foundation Immunisation Training Course
Course content
- One taught day (currently via MS Teams)
- Current issues in influenza, shingles and/or pneumococcal vaccination
- Recent epidemiology of influenza, shingles and/or pneumococcal disease
- Any changes to the recommendations or national policy for influenza, shingles and/or pneumococcal immunisation
- Update on vaccine administration
- Any changes to legislation relevant to vaccination
- Review of current practice and identification of areas for improvement
- Review of support strategies
- Opportunity to revisit and practice injection technique
- Q&A session for commonly encountered problems in practice
Entry Requirements
Health Care Support Workers and Registered Healthcare Practitioners working within General Practice whose role involves the delivery of immunisations to specific patient groups
