Nikki’s role focuses on the specific issues faces by our cohort of female GPs.
Adversities following maternity leave whilst working for the RAF prompted me to enter medicine, and I applied for the job as Female GP Network Lead as I felt we should be doing so much more to support women in the workplace, especially in key roles such as medicine.
- My aims for the next 12 months in this role will be to:
- Create a female network of GPs and GP trainees within Shropshire;
- Use the network to identify the key issues impacting female GPs;
- Create an online wellness hub that can be accessed to advertise jobs, courses, mentoring and support for female GPs
- Create a panel of female GPs who can be a point of contacts in their area of interest for others who are seeking alternative roles and portfolio careers
- Introduce child friendly networking coffee mornings.
- Childcare Information- Returning to work following a period of parental leave can sometimes be daunting. Here are some useful resources for advice on breastfeeding, childcare and finances.
- Health and Wellbeing- Here are some resources specifically aimed at supporting clinicians. If you require additional support that is not included below, please don’t hesitate to contact me at:
